Awakening (13)

“Process”

If you believe that, if you do whatever you want to do for any numerical duration of time, to attain the awakening process through your knowledge, it is just impossible.

Understand that it is impossible for you to attain anything through knowledge in the mind because knowledge is not who you really are. Understand that knowledge is an illusion of sound.

Understand that who you really are is light in the awakening process.

Understand that, if you do any activity for one hour or two hours to attain the awakening process, what about the rest of the time when you are alive? What happens then?

How could a small duration of numerical time attain the wakening process, which is in every moment of daily life? If you do and if you think that by doing meditation for a limited duration of time, you will realise ‘who’ you really are, it is impossible.

Understand that it is impossible because you will know who you really are only for a limited duration of numerical time, while in every moment duration of numerical time is absent.

Similarly, if you believe that by practising silence you will realise who you really are, clearly understand that you cannot attain who you really are because silence is light and you cannot practise either silence or light.

Understand that practising silence is knowledge. Understand that knowledge causes a ripple in your mind; it causes a disturbance in your mind; it causes a vibration in your mind; it causes sound in your mind and not silence.

Understand that practising silence is nothing but resistance to sound. Understand that sound exists because of silence. Understand that because of silence sound or noise is present.

Understand that who you really are is the silence that is behind every sound or noise. The one ‘who’ has slipped into the awakening process of life, realises who he or she really is.

The enlightened realises that every moment ‘here and now’ is all there is and the knowledge of its contents is illusory and not real.

Editor’s Note:
Many are the ways offered by the intelligence of life for realising man’s pursuit of self-realisation. So too is man’s desire for self-realisation by the intelligence of life.
In knowledge, this desire initiates many sages, many books, many ashrams, many places of worship, many religious practices and many retreats for attainment on the path in life. Such is not the understanding of the wise as revealed in this article and elsewhere. In wisdom, man can never know who he really is. He may realise who he really is – if he is meant to.

German Translator‘s Note:
The spiritual and religious practices offered to man in the market of salvation promises can never bring enlightenment. Dr. Shankar clearly explains the reasons why in this article. The enlightened never promise anything, neither salvation nor anything else, they only point out how the own mind prevents self-realization of man as long as it is full of beliefs and convictions that are considered real.
