Choice

“Precise”

Every man and woman, with knowledge, is convinced that he or she has a choice in life which they can make or take in whatever situation or circumstance they face in life, which exists in the moment.

The enlightened, however, proclaim that neither man nor woman has a choice in whatever circumstance or situation they face in the moment in life. So what could the understanding of the enlightened be, is the question?

In the mind, the belief is that one moment follows another from the first moment until the last moment in time. In life, however, every moment renews itself. This signifies that the same, timeless moment renews itself eternally.

The moment in life is precise and this implies that the moment in the mind is precise as well. This signifies that the moment cannot be another moment but itself, and the moment in life contains the moment in the mind too.

This signifies that whatever is in any moment is precise and cannot be any other than what is present in the moment.

This signifies that a letter in the moment is precise and the moment cannot contain any other letter than the letter it contains. It also signifies that only the letter of a particular language can be present in any moment and not any other letter in anotherlanguage in the same moment.

This signifies that a word in the moment is precise and the moment cannot contain any other word than the word it contains. It also signifies that only the word of a particular language can be present in any moment and not any other word in another language in the same moment.

This signifies that a thought in the moment is precise and the moment cannot contain any other thought than the thought it contains. It also signifies that only the thought in a particular language can be present in any moment and not any other thought in another language in the same moment.

This finally signifies that man and woman do not have a choice of what word should be in any moment, because only the word that is meant to be in any moment will be and no other letter.

Since an action is known as a word or as a thought, it implies that man or woman cannot have a choice in what they do, speak or think.  The enlightened have rightly proclaimed that what is meant to happen will happen and man and woman do not have a choice in what to do, speak or think.

This is why the enlightened live daily life as it happens in the moment, because they understand that nothing beside what happens in the present moment could happen in the present moment ‘Here and Now’.

Editor’s Note:
Man is no stranger to making choices or decisions, of whatever apparent magnitude, in his life. Nor to the apparent consequences of the choice or decision made. The causal link between choice or decision and consequence is firmly established in his or her mind. The ability to live in the present moment is thus seriously compromised. The precise declaration of the wise, as presented to man in this article, is the priceless gift of understanding. Such understanding will happen to each one of us if it is meant to happen.

German Translator’s Note:
Man believes that he can choose, but: Can a letter be different in the moment than it is? Can a word be different from what it is at the moment? Can a thought be different from what it is right now? What is an action, if not a thought, because man does not constantly think of actions? Since an action is therefore an idea, can the thought of the action be different than it is in every moment? - The sages ask deep questions to inspire humanity to deep enquiry. The enquiry and the corresponding understanding resulting from it happens without a choice, because the choice is also a thought that can not be any different than it is in every moment, as Dr. Shankar's article proves.
