Conviction (7)

“Belief”

Understand that it is a phenomenal shift from the mind with thoughts in life to life with light and sound. When this shift happens, only then you are an enlightened being.

Understand that you will never know you are enlightened. Understand that, if anybody says ‘I am an enlightened being’, be very sure that he is having a dream of enlightenment.

Understand that an enlightened being is just as ordinary as you. He will be walking with you, eating with you, chatting with you, watching all the misunderstandings around him.

Understand that an enlightened being feels compassion for you and shares wisdom to get you out of the mind with thoughts to give you a new birth. This brings you out from the mind of real thoughts and into life with a mind with illusory thoughts.

In daily life a conviction is evident of an action and every day you have so many. There is not one action you can actually see. You can only think about it. It is not only gone; you can never see an action in front of you. This is irrefutable conviction of the wise.

In daily life a conviction is evident of an event and every day you have so many. There is not one event you can actually see. You can only think about it. It is not only gone; you can never see an event in front of you. This is irrefutable conviction of the wise.

In daily life a conviction is evident of a situation and every day you have so many. There is not one situation you can actually see. You can only think about it. It is not only gone; you can never see a situation in front of you. This is irrefutable conviction of the wise.

Understand that in every moment of daily life there is only a single movement. That single movement in daily life is light and sound together. That is all you can see and hear.

Observe life carefully. You cannot see an action, event or situation in front of you. Understand that you are thinking an action, an event, a situation, which you do not actually see. This is irrefutable conviction of the wise.

The enlightened realise that daily life is a dream.

Editor’s Note:
We live in a world of thoughts which we are convinced are real. We believe that they inform us of what is happening in our lifetime, namely that actions, events and situations are as the mind says they are. The wise live in a world of thoughts, which are illusory, and are understood to be illusory, for they are not what the mind says they are. Whatever man knows is a conviction of what is not. A wise man is sharing here with mankind the conviction that there is no action, no event and no situation in daily life. It is a play of light and sound.

German Translator‘s Note:
The mind usually has an opinion about the events and situations we encounter in everyday life, from which considerations for action are then derived. These thoughts are, as Dr. Shankar reveals in this article, obviously illusory on closer examination. How could one have the "right opinion" about something that only happens in one's own world of thoughts, but not in life? The illusion appears so deceptively real through the precision with which one's own thought logic agrees with that of many other people that it is not easy to detach oneself from thinking it is real. But this process of liberation from the world of thought happens nevertheless, if that is how it is meant to be. Then it becomes clear: Life flows independently of any opinion about events, situations and actions, exactly as it is meant to flow.
