Creation (1)

“ Thoughts”

Understand that the mind with thoughts is always used to listening to what it has heard before. Understand that the mind is familiar with thoughts it has heard before. It thinks it is correct.

Understand that the mind with thoughts keeps on strengthening the familiar thoughts, which is the belief it believes. So what could self-realisation mean to you?

Life appears to be in different types of problems to you. This problem of having problems is very perpetual, for a very long time, as long as man can remember.

How does one understand that life is without problems? The way to understand is this. When you look at life itself as it presents itself to you, if you understand what life is presenting deeply, that is sufficient to see if there are problems in life.

Understand that problems in life appear to be in numerical duration of time. Is it not so? Suppose, if there is no numerical time-duration at all, will there be problems? That is the first understanding man should have.

Self-enquiry is enquiring about your existence. And that is sufficient. There will not be any problems because you will not have thoughts. Understand that problems exist as thoughts in the mind.

Understand that the phenomenon ‘to get’ drives man into problems. How? If you look very closely, you always want to get something or the other in your life. Is it not so?

Understand that your primary approach to life is to get. To receive from life becomes secondary because you believe that, if you get it, you will receive it. Receiving becomes a shadow of to get for you are in life.

Understand that any moment in life is a creation by the intelligence in life or consciousness. Understand that what is within any moment in life is a creation by the intelligence in life or consciousness.

When this understanding cements in your mind, your approach to life will be to receive with gratitude what is gifted by life in the moment and not to get anything from life in any moment.

The wise understand that life in the moment, including the moment, is a creation by life.

The enlightened live the creation in any moment of life. They neither define nor describe what is in any moment of creation.

Editor’s Note:
The story of creation is narrated in every precise moment by creation itself. Man admires creation and loves to narrate stories that reflect the creation he sees and experiences. Whence the problems then? Does he see and experience what is really seen and experienced or is it what the mind says it is? Man is already conditioned to being conditioned with his beliefs in daily life – a double whammy. Numerical-time duration is a great conditioner that has been man’s companion since time immemorial. Let a period of self-inquiry itself, as gifted in this article by an enlightened man, reveal absence of thought. It is so. Yet the importunate mind would have it otherwise. Let us live each moment of the creation together.

German Translator‘s Note:
The knowledgeable live in a world of lack, in which it is about getting more and more, in the future. Their minds are driven by numerical time and the urge to get as much as possible. The wise live the timeless Here and thoughtless Now, where they gratefully receive what life gives every moment. They are patient and live a fulfilled life. This article by Dr. Shankar reveals to the understanding reader the abundance of life that escapes the time-obsessed mind.
