Disappointment

“Non-fulfilment”

Every human adult feels disappointed, meaning sadness or displeasure, due to non-fulfilment of one's hopes or expectations. A child, as it grows, feels disappointed for many reasons as well, for which an adult may not be.

An adult is nevertheless disappointed when what he hopes, expects to speak, thinks or does is not fulfilled. He is also disappointed when what he hopes and expects to be spoken of by others, thought of by others or expects to be done for him by others is not fulfilled.

Disappointment has been ongoing for every human being at some time or another for aeons of time. Man has not been able to understand his disappointments either for aeons of time.

So, disappointment needs to be deeply understood so that man is never disappointed again.

Firstly, man needs to understand that his hopes and expectations, whenever they happen, happen in the moment.

Secondly, man needs to understand that he knows his hopes and expectations only after they happen in the moment and not before they happen.

Thirdly, man needs to understand that he does not make the moment in life, but that he is nevertheless in the moment without making the moment.

Fourthly, man needs to understand that if he is in the moment without making the moment, so would anything that exists in the moment be in the moment without man making it in the moment.

Fifthly, man needs to understand that what is in the moment cannot be changed. It could be changed if man was able to make the moment, but he does not make the moment.

Lastly, man needs to understand that this signifies that there is no need to hope or expect anything to be in the moment, because what is meant to be in the moment is already in the moment, without any need to hope or expect.

When man understands this compassion of life, he will neither hope nor expect anything in life. He will be grateful for everything life may or may not gift him in the moment.

When this wisdom of life cements in man, he will never be disappointed in life. He will be enlightened in life.

Editor’s Note:
Man experiences hopes and expectations in his or her daily round. Such experiences regularly deliver different outcomes, disappointment being the least welcome. The wise man lives fully in each moment and understands that he or she is gifted with everything that is needed within each moment. It is so for every human being in every moment of his or her life. There is no other case.
This is the gift of life for every man and woman. Understanding deeply that this is so is wisdom. The compassion of life.
