“Elements”
A human being takes life for granted. He or she also takes earth for granted and does not realise the significance of earth as regards life, because every living and non-living entity is made up of earth.
Numerous elements make up the earth. Water is found on the earth and in the earth as well. The elements that make up water are found in earth as well. This signifies that earth is in water.
There are different objects on the earth. Every object is made up of a specific matter and every specific matter is made up of specific elements. The specific elements that make up specific matter and specific objects are found in earth.
This signifies that earth is in every object.
There are different types of vegetation on the earth. Every type of vegetation is made up of specific elements. The specific elements that make up specific vegetation are found in earth.
This signifies that earth is in every type of vegetation.
There are different species of animals on the earth. Every species of animal is made up of specific elements. The specific elements that make up specific species of animals are found in earth.
This signifies that earth is in every species in the animal kingdom.
There are different species of birds, fishes, reptiles and insects on the earth. Every species is made up of specific elements. The specific elements that make up specific species of birds, fishes, reptiles and insects are found in earth.
This signifies that earth is in every species of birds, fishes, reptiles and insects that are found in earth.
There are different elements in the atmosphere, in the clouds and in the sky. All the elements that are in the atmosphere, in the clouds and in the sky are found in the earth.
This signifies that earth is in the atmosphere, in the clouds and in the sky.
The enlightened have rightly proclaimed that fire, meaning heat/ light, air, water and earth are present in every moment of life.

So the earth is not only what we walk on, play on, sit on, build on, grow vegetation in, dig in, bury in. The wise proclaim that the existence of earth cares for the existence of everything that has ever existed, exists now and will ever exist. No wonder it has been worshipped and adored by man as Mother Earth. Man would do well in understanding, as the wise do, what is present in every moment of life.

Dr. Shankar‘s article covers the big picture of life in a wise overview. The daily focus of man‘s worldview is too narrow to be clear about how life really happens. Therefore man believes himself to be separate from earth. Since the Earth was first present here where we live and then elements, matter, plants, animals and humans followed, the earth is obviously the mother of existence on our planet Earth. We have no existence independent from earth.
