Get it

“Mantra”

‘Get it’ is a mantra for the conditioned, modern man and woman if they like, want, or desire anything. This could be in business, education, career and even enlightenment.

The conditioned mind of humans has embarked mankind on a rat race to ‘get it’. Every human is out to get it. Every possible means is also employed to get whatever one wishes, wants, desires, including to get close to God.

Prayers are the means to get close to God. Reading scriptures and singing songs in praise of God are also means to get close to God. Pilgrimage to holy places is also another way to get to God

But, no matter what measures or methods are used to get close to God, it is never got. Even Buddha lived on a single grain of rice to attain nirvana and eventually realized that he cannot do anything to get close to God.

The enlightened have, however, declared that daily life is illusory and neither man nor woman is a doer. The enlightened have also pointed that every individual will come to have what he is meant to have, come to know what he is meant to know and come to do what he is meant to do.

Both these statements are to be deeply understood for peace to prevail in every moment of daily life in a family, in a house, between friends and colleagues and in the place of work.

So what could the deep understanding be that convinces man or woman that the mantra ‘get it’ is illusory, just as the enlightened have declared? And also the declaration that an individual will come to have what he or she is meant to have?

The first statement that daily life is illusory could be deeply understood by the fact, disclosed by science, that every atom of everything and every living entity is light, including dark matter and darkness.

Even colour is an illusion of light. The above two facts signify that daily life is indeed an illusion of light, meaning God, because God is light.

Now, if man and woman were able to make light, meaning God, they could possibly be able to employ the mantra ‘get it’ and get whatever they wish, want or desire. But light meaning God cannot be made by man or woman.

Light meaning God exists without a cause and God, as light, manifests everything, including man and woman. This implies that what we are meant to have we will have and we cannot get it to have it. This signifies that what we have has been gifted by God to have it.

When this understanding cements in man or woman, he or she will be grateful to God for whatever he or she has and will never demand to get it or have it. The mantra will be love instead of ‘get it’ and will always be close to life and its blessings.

Editor’s Note:
Man has shown devotion to the object of his or her worship since time immemorial. The form of the object, however, may have varied distinctively. It may be in the sky; it may be in the earth; it may be on the earth; it may even be of the earth. The act of worship itself may also vary, but the intensity of the act is always present. In man’s drive for attainment there is little awareness, let alone gratitude, for what the intelligence of life has endowed to every living creature. Such is the deep understanding of the wise, as gifted in this article. Such is path to enlightenment.

German Translator‘s Note:
The wisdom, that everybody has what he or she is meant to have, makes the urge of the conditioned mind to get something illusory. The inner freedom resulting from this understanding is invaluable. Dr. Shankar‘s articles always share a clarity which cannot be found elsewhere in the world of conditioning, be it psychology or spirituality.
