Hope (10)

“Expect”

Understand, if you are hoping for enlightenment, you are hoping for enlightenment in the mind with the thought of hope. Understand that enlightenment does not occur in the mind with hope.

Understand that if you hope for a good job, understand you are hoping for a good job in your mind. Not in life. Because in life and mind there is just a movement of light and sound and not a job as an actuality.

Understand that a job is an optical illusion of actuality in life and in the mind. Understand that ‘job’ as a thought or word in the mind is an auditory illusion of sound.

Understand that actions are absent in life and in the mind. There are no situations in life and mind. There are no issues in life and mind. Life is thought-free. You need to realise that.

The moment you understand that life is thought-free, you become alive to life. You begin to live life as it is. And you will watch the drama of life created by thoughts in the mind.

With this understanding you will wonder, where was this life all this while? Whilst you were just passing through. Seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, touching. Matter over.

When this understanding cements in your mind, understand that you have come to live in your true home, which is timeless and thoughtless.

A mind does not understand, because it is not the function of the mind to understand. The function of the mind is to know or recollect what it has known. Understanding is a gift from life as intellect.

Understanding is a gift from life. Understanding is grace. If this grace happens to you, good for you. That gift will get you from the mind of thoughts to the mind in life which is without thoughts.

That grace will bring you to the now and here, which is life.

The wise understand that you cannot hope for grace to come, because you cannot make grace come. If you can make grace come, go ahead - nobody is stopping you. You can make grace come if you can make any moment in life.

The enlightened realise that grace and the moment happens.

Editor’s Note:
Man has come to be beguiled by the authority of  mind with thoughts, his alter ego. He is seldom free of thinking in his daily life without discrimination of content, frequency or even consequence, whatever it may be. Focus on thoughts inevitably courts drama in man’s waking state, arousing positive or negative emotions. The gift of freedom from mental slavery is in wise understanding. The deep compassion of enlightened men and women for mankind thus enslaved and in fear is the awakening of mind without thoughts. Live life as it happens.

German Translator‘s Note:
Fear and hope, which are mutually dependent, are firmly anchored as thoughts in the human mind. There is hardly anyone who is not governed by these opposite poles as if they were reality. These thought constructs are highly contagious when they are thought to be real. And this is mostly the case, because the conditioning of the human mind is very strong in each individual. This is not a fault of the human being. In life everything is exactly as it is meant to be, everything has evolved spontaneously. But the consequences of this conditioning can be devastating, individually, in a society and globally in relation to the whole of humanity. Laws, if they existed against it, do not protect from it, and demonstrations cannot prevent it. Protests, loud or quiet, against the conditioning of the mind are ineffective. Wisdom, if it is meant to be understood, slowly dissolves the conditioning and reveals life to man as it is, without real fears, without real hope. The series of articles on hope that Dr. Shankar shares here with humanity is of mostly unrecognized importance and is invaluable.
