Intellect
“Life as it is”
Man is part of nature and not separate from nature. This is obvious because nature is in the moment and so is man. If man were separate from the moment then he would be separate from nature.
But man is not separate from the moment; he is in nature in any moment as an expression of nature, just as matter, vegetation and animal kingdom are an expression of nature in any moment.
Intelligence present in life has manifested nature as an evolutionary process spontaneously, uncontrollably and unpredictably, which includes intellect in every expression of nature, including in man.
The intellect present in matter in the moment evolves as the variety of elements in the periodic table, their form, shape, colour, odour, taste and functions that are and will be in every moment. They cannot be other than what they are in the moment.
The intellect present in vegetation in the moment evolves as the variety of vegetation, their form, shape, colour, odour, taste and functions that are and will be in every moment. They cannot be other than what they are in the moment.
The intellect present in the animal kingdom in the moment evolves as the variety of living species, their form, shape, colour, odour, taste, functions, uttered sounds and physical activity that are and will be in every moment. They cannot be other than what they are in the moment.
The intellect present in humans in the moment evolves as the variety of homo-sapiens, their form, shape, colour, odour, taste, functions and physical activity that are and will be in every moment. They cannot be other than what they are in the moment. The evolutionary process of intellect in humans further evolved as mental activity, involving letters and words.
Furthermore, the evolutionary process of life evolved muscular movement in homo-sapiens as physical activity through intellect. Man neither controls evolution nor intellect. This signifies that man neither controls his muscular movement nor its activity, nor does he control his mental activity of thinking nor his muscular activity of speaking. Therefore, man is not the doer, speaker or thinker. Doing, speaking and thinking that evolve to happen to man through intellect is by life, albeit illusory.
The intelligence in life as intellect evolves everything that exists in nature, including man, woman and child - and this is “life as it is”.

Editor’s Note:
We can only stand back and marvel at the revelations gifted in this article of the scope and precision of the intellect in life. Little wonder that the mind of man has claimed to be the doer, the speaker and the thinker, albeit illusory.
Little wonder that the ego has claimed the high ground in doing, speaking and thinking, albeit illusory. Little wonder that men and women, in the belief of their individuality, have claimed to have done, spoken and thought deeds and words that have endowed them with universal acclaim, or even universal condemnation, albeit illusory. The wonder of life ‘as it is’.

German Translator’s Note:
Intelligence is taken for an asset of man’s individuality. Parents are proud of the achievements of their children’s intellect, even more than they are proud of their physical strength and capability. If someone lacks intellectual ability, he is advised to make more effort. If he is still unable to manage the task, he is taken to be mentally disabled. This is commonly regarded with disrespect as if it is his or his parents fault. That intelligence is not in man’s hands but life’s attribute is wisdom. And wisdom does not condemn or disrespect the mental power of anybody, because wisdom understands that every intellect is part of the intelligence of life and not made by children or parents. In this article Dr. Shankar offers the key for the understanding of a mystery mostly misunderstood in our lifes.
