Intelligence 12

“Breathing”

The intelligence in life has manifested breathing. Breathing is a process in which air comes in and air goes out. Neither man nor woman has manifested breathing.

The intelligence in life makes oxygen in air go into the lungs while breathing and carbon dioxide in air go out from the lungs while breathing. Neither man nor woman can make this happen.

Similarly, the intelligence in life has manifested a process by which carbon dioxide in air, which man breathes out, is taken in by green vegetation and oxygen is given out by green vegetation, which is taken in by humans to breathe.

The green pigment chlorophyll present in plant takes in carbon dioxide given out when humans breathe. Similarly, the red pigment haemoglobin in human blood takes in oxygen given out by vegetation.

Therefore, the green pigment chlorophyll in vegetation and the red haemoglobin in humans function to keep each other alive. This indicates that opposites give life to the other and each cannot have life on their own.

This is similar to the mind in man where an opposite of a word gives meaning to a word, while the opposite word by itself does not have a meaning without a word.

Humans use sunlight, oxygen present in haemoglobin and water to utilize food for survival. Similarly, vegetation uses sunlight, carbon dioxide present in chloroplasts and water to manufacture food that humans eat.

Therefore, it is the intelligence in vegetation that gives man food and man in turn helps vegetation to make food for him. This implies that the food for vegetation is sunlight, air, water and earth.

The intelligence in life, therefore, makes food out of air, water, earth and sunlight. Since every atom of air, water and earth is light and not air, water or earth, it signifies that food is an illusion of light.

The enlightened are grateful for food and life, because they understand that without breathing there is neither life nor food.

Editor’s Note:
In this generation we are increasingly concerned for the environment in which we live. Significant efforts are being made to reduce the negative effects believed to be the result of man’s actions and use of natural and synthetic materials. The understanding of the wise, as presented in this article, reveals an intelligence that commands the highest respect and gratitude. Deep understanding of nature’s self-supporting system that enlivens our planet opens the way for cooperation and harmony
between peoples.

German Translator’s Note:
Everything in life is interconnected. This is what science tells us. And wisdom, as presented here by Dr. Shankar, explains life deeply as oneness. The food we eat and the water we drink and the air we breathe, is one and not many. The intelligence of life makes everything happen precisely, albeit illusory. What a miracle!
