Present (2)

“What is in”

What is the present? Present is known as: existing or occurring now. But what is in the present moment is known only after it is in the present moment. So what is in the present moment is not known unless something happens in the present moment.

The known is in memory, which is recalled to recognise what is in the present. But the known is in the past, because what is in the present moment is sound that appears as a letter or word in memory of the past.

The fact that you know only after something happens in the present implies that you live the past as the present.

As evolution progressed so did the movements of man and woman progress and sophisticate instinctively. The sophisticated, instinctive movements were registered as actions and stored in the memory of humans.

The sophisticated, instinctive human movements that evolved are numerous and were registered in the memory as daily, household chores, as actions in games, which were only sophisticated, evolved movements, as numerous actions of humans, which are only sophisticated, evolved movements in humans.

When humans moved in modern times, their evolved, sophisticated movements were recognised as actions because of the memory of movements as actions. This implies that humans do not recognise the evolved, sophisticated movements as evolved movements, but memory labels them as actions.

This is obvious as modern man or woman comes to know what action has happened with certainty only after some movements happen. But, in fact, an action has not happened. Only memory of singular movement in every moment as an action has happened.

The memory of action, therefore, is an illusion of evolved, sophisticated movements. Each movement is in each moment and an action is not in each moment.

So, wisdom reveals that it is not possible for you to know what action will happen with certainty before it actually happens. It is not possible because an action does not happen; only sophisticated, human movements happen.

The enlightened realise that everything in nature, including humans, is only moving in every moment of their life-time. The enlightened realise that a human’s mind with thoughts of actions lives the past or memory as the present.

Editors Note:
It is being revealed again and again by Dr Shankar that every man’s birth and subsequent lifetime is allotted by the intelligence of life as the evolutionary pathway towards understanding who he or she really is. Not until man or woman comes to understand, if he or she is meant to, that the past or memory, firmly held to be the present, is an illusion of the present, is the present realised. May it be so.
Julian Capper, UK.

German Translator‘s Note:
Just as we do not see the stars as they are right now, but, because of the light-year delay, only see them as they were when the light was reflected from the star, so we do not see the present, which is seemingly right in front of us, but the past. Dr. Shankar's article Present (2) shows us in simple words with clear explanations what Maya, illusion, means and why man cannot be the doer, speaker and thinker, although it seems precisely so in daily life.
