Self-Enquiry 5
“Light”
Self-enquiry is honest enquiry of not only who you are, but also what you are.
Self-enquiry is also an honest enquiry into what objects, vegetation and animals are.
An honest self-enquiry is whether the egg came first or the chicken came first. This enquiry is difficult to answer by those with knowledge. It is, however, explained by those with wisdom, due to self-enquiry. So what is the explanation by the wise, is the question?
It is paradoxical that when the meaning conveyed by knowledge is deeply understood by humans, the wisdom of self-enquiry is revealed. The explanation of the wise is given in article self-enquiry 2.
A further question to the egg and chicken problem is, did the egg yolk and the egg white come first or did the shell of the egg come first? The explanation of the wise is given in article self-enquiry 3.
Similarly, the question did the seed come first or did the plant come first is asked. The explanation of the wise is given in article self-enquiry 4.
A further question to enquiry 4 is whether the inner, coconut shell came first or whether the coconut and coconut water came first.
Scientific knowledge of elements reveals the wisdom of elements when the deep meaning of elements is understood by humans. Wisdom of the scientific knowledge of elements reveals that every atom of an element is light.
This wisdom signifies that light appeared as illusory elements first. Also that light appeared as different elements as well. It is impossible to determine the first element that appeared on earth.
This further implies that illusory elements appear as an illusory matter. This signifies that particular elements appeared as a seed for plant and seeds for different plants as well.
Since every atom of the coconut inner shell and every atom of the coconut and coconut water is light, it signifies that the light appeared as the coconut inner shell first and the light within the coconut inner shell appeared as the coconut and coconut water as an illusion of light as well.
This signifies that a coconut shell came first and the first coconut shell expressed as a first coconut plant. The elements within the first coconut plant appeared as a coconut with an outer shell and the cycle of the question of inner and outer shell was set in motion by the intelligence in life.
This signifies that the coconut and water is a compressed coconut with an inner shell and the coconut with an inner shell is an expressed coconut and coconut water, similar to the wisdom that a plant is an expressed seed and a seed is a compressed plant.
This wisdom applies to any seeds of vegetation and to the vegetables, fruits and flowers that grow on them.
The enlightened, due to self-enquiry, have rightly proclaimed that life is beginningless and endless, which signifies that any coconut shell, including the coconut and the coconut water, albeit illusory, neither has a beginning nor an end.
The enlightened, due to self-enquiry, understand the wisdom of the further seed and plant question and, therefore, admire the intelligence of light and its many expressions on vegetation in any moment. They do not expect them to be other than they are in any moment.

Editor’s Note:
What is gradually revealed to the enquirer from these articles is never lost nor is the will to understand. We all grow and die in the very heart of a complex, yet illusory world until, that is, the wisdom of the enlightened transforms our lives. The journey of self-enquiry diligently followed here is a monumental gift from the compassion of Dr Shankar. It is no leap into the dark unknown. It is where knowledge gives way to wisdom.

German Translator’s Note:
Every atom that makes up humans is not human. Every atom that makes up animals and plants and things does not consist of animals, plants and things. Atoms consist of sub-atomic particles, which themselves have no mass and are an illusion of light or energy. Since everything in life consists of atoms and atoms are essentially light or energy, nothing in life has its own real name, because a unit that is separate from the rest of life does not really exist. The names that the human mind gives to things, plants, animals, and humans are therefore illusory. This is also reflected in the naming of a coconut, coconut shell and coconut water, as Dr. Shankar shows here. The nameless Here and timeless Now becomes the object of human logic through illusory labelling in the human mind. Self-Enquiry reaches the wise logic of oneness by exploring the knowledgeable logic of separation.
