Book launch 23 rd January 2010: ‘Evolution of Mind’

Julian Capper, United Kingdom

Mankind has always prided itself on its spirit of exploration, an enduring characteristic of men and women in all generations. Whether elated by the achievement of unimaginable goals or disappointed by failure to reach impossible targets, the courage to go further has never abated.

In all activities of intellect and raw endurance, man has never said ‘enough is enough’. Now, in the exploration of the very essence of mankind itself, life has come forth to gift the whole of humanity man’s real identity. This is hard to appreciate.

Hard too to appreciate at that time were the revelations of Charles Darwin, the naturalist, who gifted mankind his theory of evolution in the 19th century so that man might understand the world and its species. In this 21st century Dr. Vijai S Shankar gifts mankind a profound insight into the evolution of mind, so that man may traverse beyond the confines of mind.

This remarkable book, Evolution of Mind, contains 10 chapters, each divided into 10 subsections, in which the evolution and sophistication of the entire spectrum of man’s experience as a human being is examined in detail.

The author leaves no stone unturned to challenge man to dig deep into his own mind and embark on a journey beyond the mind – the journey into life. In every quest that man has undertaken, freedom has never been a permanent feature. The courage of man is put to the test yet again to cross the boundaries of mind - this time to discover permanent freedom. This book perhaps will make man realise that ‘this is enough’ - life’s map to enlightenment.

Comment: Article ‘Emptiness’

Randy Breuer, Netherlands
This article is so very, very profound. This is all man needs to understand about what is meant by emptiness. No man has to look anymore for that in which he is swimming – is emptiness. Words like emptiness or void have become buzzwords and so easy to find in spiritual books. But where is it really explained. As you say, it is even explained as being separate from the world we know which only proofs that man is yet to understand what is in front of him. Now you have explained what emptiness or void really is.

One thing is crucial. As you rightly say, man needs to understand that time is illusory for as long as time is taken to be real we will 'fill' our lives with attempts to achieve whatever, only to succeed in feeling very unfulfilled. Now we are allowed to understand that we will never embrace who we really are when we accept time as real and reject the moment. If we embrace what appears to be known as real, we fail to embrace ourselves as we really are. You have beautifully explained both the known and the filled are in fact empty and that the fullness of being becomes apparent only when we embrace the empty totally. Your explanation of time is a tribute to the aliveness that is keeping the moment alive, wherein man lives.

Comment: ‘Satsangs’

Wolfgang, Maastricht
I feel to tell you that I enjoy life very much, completely different than the time before I met you. I feel a big change since my contact with you.
For me, what is most important is that I can enjoy every day; no matter what life brings to me. I feel at ease. Since I met you there is no day with good or bad weather, all days are just beautiful, just as these are. My thoughts are with you and all the people around you.
Thank you very very much for the eye-opening or mind opening. What you share has really changed my life or the view of it. Thank you !!! Greetings from my heart.

Acting teachers often are asked, who has been most influential in how you teach?

Of course professional-technical wise Prof. William Esper (NY) has been most influential to the present writer, but the ultimate influence derived undoubtedly is from sharing with Doctor, for all understanding of life and therefore also of acting gets unveiled through Doctor’s explanation on understanding the illusions of life.

As far as the present writer understands is acting an illusion in an illusion? It is clear and obvious through many topic’s of Doctor’s satsangs that all of them relate in-directly to the art of acting. Doctor should know how much the professional acting work field profits from Doctor’s ultimate insight into life and acting. It seems that also for the future generation of actors Doctor’s sharing will be of tremendous influence. Also what ever Doctor shares with all, is of tremendous inspiration to the present mailer.

So, dear Doctor, from a relative professional acting point of view, life seems to have provided the present writer from the best ‘Master Acting Teacher’ ever, and therefore the present writer is most grateful to Doctor, who is Life.

Dr. Shankar: Response

There is just one illusion and not one in another.

Man is not the doer, speaker or thinker. This has become clear.

Dr. Shankar’s effort to make us understand is unlimited. What a gift of life. His compassion for humanity is unlimited too. And so is Life's compassion to make him share. We are so blessed that life brought us to Dr. Shankar. And we are so blessed that we are able to listen to him. We are so blessed when a little, tiny part of our rigid condition melts. And that what he shares is so unlimited. What a power of Life to keep man in this illusion that he is the speaker, thinker and doer.
